DSN Connection String -Secure Encrypt Password

Hey Team,

Is there a easy way of securing the password in a connection string?

I have the connection string working but the password is in plain site and this is less than idea.

Research has indicated lots of possible ways but I don't have the ability to utilise Windows Authentication or to change the provided password even.

Hi Antony,

 

please remind to the "research user" that by default in MS this is not possible for applications running inside a services innocent.

More in general that you can't use Windows authentication because Scanshare runs inside a service which has the identity of Local System, a Windows service, in general, isn't able to authenticate using Windows authentication because a user logon is required which isn't available inside Windows services.

 

We remind you that only the administrator user has access to the workflow designer section, and therefore also to the DB connection, and not to a "normal" user within Scanshare.
