Hi,

Is there any documentation about installing an embed on to a Sharp device?

I found this article that says brands other than the listed devices requires a manual installation, but I can't seem to find any installation files.

https://forum.scanshare.com/thread/what-does-installation-not-supported-mean-when-displayed-inside-clients-status/?order=all#comment-740d63c2-5994-4eb4-abd9-abe30083459a

I've created a client with the IP address of the device, but how do I get it to show on the device itself. There are also workflows that show up on the simulator too.

ScanShare version 5.21.02

Sharp MX-511N

Any help that points me in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

 Hi Mic,

yes the Sharp client doesn't support any embedded automatic installation.

To install the client on Sharp devices go to web panel of your MFP, go to the tab Application settings, external Application Settings and log in with administrator rights.

Select Standard Applications Settings and add a new application...something like this:

-   Application name you can add the application name

-  Into address for Application UI you can add a:

After submitting, the application will be available on your devide in the OSA section.

Best regards,

Luca

Hi Luigi,

Thanks for your guidance. Sorry about the delay in getting back, we had to put this on the back burner due to some other urgent work. Only got back into this today.

We tried your instructions and was able to get the Sharp embed working. The workflows all show up on the device and we are able to use them, but we are getting an error. The scans are not getting from the MFD to the ScanShare server.

When we press the scan button, it creates a temp folder in the server.

c:\ProgramData\Scanshare\SharpMFP\Scans_Temp

But they are all empty.

In the device, it shows the following message.

But it has to be communicating with the server since the device shows the workflows and everything. And we can open the device administration panel from the server.

In the application log, we see the following error too.

2021-04-15 15:28:59:762 | Error | Error during TaskProcessService.StartThread(): Cannot start service SS5TaskProcess on computer '.'.

2021-04-15 15:28:59:762 | Error | Error during ProcessService.StartThread(): Cannot start service SS5Process on computer '.'.

2021-04-15 15:28:59:763 | Error | Error during IndexingService.StartThread(): Cannot start service SS5Indexing on computer '.'.

Would this be related? We don't see any services with these names in Windows Services.

All firewalls are turned off.

Highly appreciate any guidance on this.

Thank you and kind regards

Hi Mic,

more than welcome as always and no worry for all.

No, the services error above are not related to your error Sharp client error ... maybe the services error are related after a restart of the application so they will be back active automatically.

Your error for sure is due to the connection with FTP because the Sharp client for sending the scanned document using a FTP channel and the message "Selected Servers not found" is generated internally when it failed to establish the connection to FTP server.

Please check this Server Address into Sharp Settings:

...and please check the ports:

  • 8280 = Sharp Web Client
  • 8290 = Sharp WCF Communication Service Host
  • 8291 = Sharp FTP file transfer

Best regards,

Luca
